Lead generation for jewelers, without the retainer
Updated September 2026
Lead generation for a jeweler means one thing: people with a piece in mind reaching your inbox. Agencies sell that outcome for $1,000 to $5,000 a month in retainers, and for a bench doing bespoke work the math rarely clears. There are three routes and each has a real price.
Your own site
Search rankings compound and cost nothing but time, or an agency retainer if you buy the time. A page that answers a real search, bespoke work in your city, your specialty by name, keeps paying for years. Count on months before it moves and keep it up regardless, because both other routes work better when it exists.
Paid ads
The fastest route and the most expensive, with chains bidding the obvious jewelry keywords into the sky. Ads suit a product you sell repeatedly at a known margin. For one-off commissions the arithmetic turns hostile: a retainer plus ad spend needs several new commissions every month before anyone is ahead except the agency.
Listings that route the inquiry to you
A flat-cost page on a marketplace or directory, passing the inquiry straight through. No percentage, no retainer, and the cost is knowable before you start. Two tests matter: whether the listing is a real indexed page (the checklist is in do jewelry directories work) and where the inquiry lands: your inbox, or their pipeline where it becomes their lead to resell.
The math, side by side
A $2,000 monthly retainer costs $24,000 a year and must generate commissions constantly to justify itself. 1000 Jewellers costs $588 a year, or $470 paid yearly, and one landed commission covers it. We list verified benches on indexed pages, run an open commission board and send every inquiry to your email with nothing taken from the job. The slower, compounding half of the picture is in how to get your jewelry brand found.
